NVQ Level 2 Interior Systems Access Flooring at a Glance
NVQ Level 2 – Interior Systems Access Flooring
Step up your career with a recognised qualification in access flooring. The NVQ Level 2 in Interior Systems – Access Flooring is designed for tradespeople who install and finish raised access flooring systems on construction sites. Instead of classroom tests, you’re assessed on the real work you do – from preparing and laying panels to following drawings, handling materials safely, and meeting health & safety standards. Whether you’re new to the trade or have years of experience, this NVQ proves your ability to deliver quality flooring installations and helps you qualify for the Blue CSCS Skilled Worker Card, giving you greater site access, credibility, and long-term opportunities in construction.
Eligibility Requirements
- CITB Test
- NVQ Registration
- NVQ Course Completion
What you get?
Occupation / Trade: Construction Operations Kerb & Channel Layer
Who Can Do This
This NVQ suits raised access floor installers, floor fitters and interior fit-out operatives working on offices, data centres and commercial buildings. It is a good fit if you already set out pedestals, fit panels and finish floor voids on live sites, whether you are newer to the trade or have been doing it for years without a formal qualification.
Course Structure, Duration & Assessment
The qualification is made up of mandatory units on health, safety and welfare, working relationships and productive working practices, plus optional units built around raised access floor installation. Your assessor helps you choose the units that match the work you actually do on site.
There are no written exams. Your assessor reviews photos, method statements and witness testimonies from your supervisor, and may visit site or hold a professional discussion with you. How long it takes depends on your experience and how quickly you can gather evidence.

What You Will Learn
You show you can read drawings and set out grid lines, fix and level pedestals, cut and lay floor panels around services and edges, and fit stringers, ramps and finishing trims. Assessors also look at how you handle and store materials, check levels and loadings, and leave the floor safe for following trades.
Career Progression After Level 2
Once qualified you can apply for the Blue Skilled Worker CSCS Card and take on more responsibility on fit-out projects. Many installers go on to supervise floor gangs, move into wider interior systems work or progress to NVQ Level 3 supervision qualifications.
