NVQ Level 2 in Stonemasonry External Stone Fixing
The NVQ Level 2 in Stonemasonry (External Stone Fixing) is designed for individuals installing natural or reconstituted stone to building exteriors. This qualification recognises practical competence in tasks such as preparing fixing areas, positioning stone units, using mechanical fixings, applying mortars, and ensuring installations meet structural and aesthetic standards. As a work‑based qualification, it allows candidates to demonstrate their skills on site while continuing their normal duties. Completing this NVQ qualification provides formal recognition of ability and supports progression within the stonemasonry and specialist façade installation sector.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be currently employed in a stonemasonry or external stone fixing role
- Must pass the CITB HS&E Operatives Test
- Must have access to an active site to gather evidence
- Must follow construction‑site safety procedures and stone‑fixing standards
- Ability to provide work evidence such as photos, method statements, risk assessments, and witness testimonies
