Eligibility of Course
To enroll in the CPCS A73 Plant and Traffic Marshall Course, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Be at least 18 years old.
Have basic literacy and numeracy skills to follow instructions and safety guidelines.
Hold a valid CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) test certificate taken within the last two years.
Prior site experience is beneficial but not mandatory, as the course is suitable for both beginners and experienced operators.
Course Details
Duration: Typically 2–3 days, depending on prior experience.
Content Includes:
Roles and responsibilities of a plant and traffic marshall.
Safe signalling and communication methods with plant operators and drivers.
Managing vehicle and pedestrian movements on site.
Awareness of site hazards, safety regulations, and emergency procedures.
Assessment: Candidates must pass a CPCS theory test and a practical assessment.
Certification: Successful participants receive the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card for the A73 category. This can later be upgraded to the Blue Competent Operator Card by completing an NVQ in plant or traffic management.
