Eligibility of Course
To enroll in the CPCS A22 Tracked Loading Shovel Training Course, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Be at least 18 years old.
Have basic literacy and numeracy skills to follow instructions and safety guidelines.
Hold a valid CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) test certificate taken within the last two years.
Prior site or quarry experience is beneficial but not mandatory, as the course is suitable for both beginners and experienced operators.
Course Details
Duration: Typically 3–5 days, depending on prior experience.
Content Includes:
Pre‑use inspection and routine maintenance of wheeled and tracked loading shovels.
Safe operation for loading, transporting, and stockpiling materials.
Understanding stability, ground conditions, and load management.
Awareness of site hazards, safety regulations, and emergency procedures.
Assessment: Candidates must pass a CPCS theory test and a practical assessment.
Certification: Successful participants receive the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card for A22 (Tracked) category. This can later be upgraded to the Blue Competent Operator Card by completing an NVQ in plant operations.
