CPCS A17 Telescopic Handler Forklift
The CPCS A17 Telescopic Handler Forklift Course is designed to train individuals in the safe and efficient operation of telescopic handlers, commonly used for lifting and transporting loads on construction sites. Eligibility of Course
To enroll in the CPCS A17 course, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Be at least 18 years of age.
Have basic literacy and numeracy skills to follow instructions and safety guidelines.
Hold a valid CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) test certificate taken within the last two years.
Prior site experience is beneficial but not mandatory, as the course caters to both beginners and experienced operators.
Course Details
Duration: Typically 3–5 days, depending on prior experience.
Content Includes:
Pre‑use inspection and routine maintenance of telescopic handlers.
Safe operation, including lifting, transporting, and placing loads.
Understanding stability, ground conditions, and load charts.
Awareness of site hazards, safety regulations, and best practices.
Assessment: Candidates must pass a CPCS theory test and a practical assessment.
Certification: Successful participants receive the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card for the A17 category. This can later be upgraded to the Blue Competent Operator Card by completing an NVQ in plant operations.
