CPCS A62 Crane Supervisor
The CPCS A62 Crane Supervisor Course is designed to train individuals who are responsible for supervising lifting operations on construction sites. Crane supervisors play a vital role in ensuring that lifting activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry regulations. The course combines theoretical learning with practical exercises, covering planning, communication, and safety management. Successful completion leads to CPCS certification, a nationally recognized qualification.
Who Can Apply
To enroll in the CPCS A62 Crane Supervisor Course, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Be at least 18 years old.
Have basic literacy and numeracy skills to follow instructions and safety guidelines.
Hold a valid CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) test certificate taken within the last two years.
Prior experience in lifting operations or site supervision is highly recommended, as the course is more advanced than operator‑level training.
Eligibility of Course
To enroll in the CPCS A09 Forward Tipping Dumper Course, candidates must meet certain requirements:
Be at least 18 years of age.
Possess basic literacy and numeracy skills to understand instructions and safety guidelines.
Hold a valid CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) test certificate taken within the last two years.
Prior site experience is beneficial but not mandatory, as the course is designed to accommodate both beginners and experienced operators.
Course Details
Duration: Typically 3–5 days, depending on prior experience.
Content Includes:
Roles and responsibilities of a crane supervisor.
Legal requirements and industry regulations for lifting operations.
Planning and supervising lifting activities.
Effective communication and coordination with appointed persons, crane operators, and slingers.
Risk assessment, method statements, and emergency procedures.
- Assessment: Candidates must pass a CPCS theory test and a practical assessment, which includes supervising a lifting operation.
- Certification: Successful participants receive the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card for the A62 category. This can later be upgraded to the Blue Competent Operator Card by completing an NVQ in lifting operations supervision.
